HELP TO PAY YOUR WAY
Several options are available for financial aid eligible students to help pay for their education at ASPIRA confidently. The financial aid process is actually straightforward. To be considered for Financial Aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at StudentAid.gov. The information you provide on the FAFSA is used to determine the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and financial need. Based on the EFC, ASPIRA City College creates a Financial Aid Offer to show you how various aid options can help you meet your educational expenses.
Student Aid comes from many sources, from federal and state governments to private organizations. For qualified students, options may include:
- Federal work-study
- Federal grants*
- Federal direct student loans
- State grants*
- Private education loans
- Private scholarships
- College-based payment plans
Grants are the part of Student Aid that students are not required to repay, and awards are based on financial need. Students applying for loans under the Federal Student Aid program also complete an educational activity called entrance counseling to ensure they understand:
- What it means to take out a federal student loan or loans.
- Their rights and responsibilities as federal student loan borrowers.
